How old am I in months?

We usually count age in years, but sometimes precise month counts are necessary or just interesting. For babies and toddlers, age is almost exclusively tracked in months up to 2 years.

Why use months?

Months offer a middle ground between years (too broad) and days (too specific). They are tied to the moon cycles originally and remain a fundamental unit of our calendar.

How to calculate?

The formula is roughly:
(Years difference * 12) + Months difference
Adjustments are made if the day of the current month is less than the day of birth.

The Julian vs Gregorian Calendar

Most of the world uses the Gregorian calendar, which has 12 months of varying lengths (28-31 days). This variation is why "age in months" is often paired with "and days" for precision.
